Suspension

In a suspension, tiny particles of a solid (e.g. a powder) are distributed equally in a fluid. This creates a suspension. In a suspension, the particles of the solid float in the fluid. Particles and fluids may also separate again, in this case, the particles sink. To prevent this, the suspension has to be stabilised. A suspension always has a higher viscosity than the pure fluid without solids.

Ystral process

Your process is value-added

The mixing process is important for the manufacture of a suspension. So that the fluid and the solid particles can mix homogeneously, everything used during mixing must be converted into a vertical flow. This process is called elutriation. In technical terms, a jetstream mixer with a rotor-stator design is needed for this. At high rotational speeds, the rotor-stator design of the jetstream prevents the entire contents of the vessel to move as well – this would prevent successful suspension.
